This medicine helps to remove gas bubbles or gas in the intestines during upper gastrointestinal endoscopy or abdominal X-ray examinations. It is also used to improve uncomfortable symptoms such as abdominal distension or aerophagia caused by gas in the gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, it helps to relieve abdominal discomfort and obtain more accurate results during the diagnostic process.

How to take

Adult dose

1. For gas bubble removal during upper gastrointestinal endoscopy: Administer 40-80mg orally with approximately 10mL of water, 15-40 minutes before the examination. 2. For gas removal during abdominal X-ray examination: Start 3-4 days before the examination with a dose of 40-80mg taken 3 times daily after or between meals. 3. For improvement of abdominal symptoms due to gas in the gastrointestinal tract: Administer 40-80mg, 3 times daily after meals or at bedtime. The dosage should be adjusted according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication contains aspartame, an artificial sweetener. Aspartame is broken down in the body into phenylalanine, which should be restricted in patients with phenylketonuria, a hereditary disease. When using this medication, the content of aspartame should be adjusted to remain below the daily intake recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) of 40mg/kg, and for adults, care should be taken not to exceed a maximum of 2.4g per day. Additionally, this medication contains sodium metabisulfite, which can cause allergic reactions. Patients with asthma or those sensitive to sulfites should be especially cautious when using this medication, as it can rarely lead to life-threatening anaphylaxis or asthma attacks. Taking this medication may occasionally result in gastrointestinal symptoms such as loose stools, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, abdominal pain, vomiting, nausea, abdominal pressure, decreased appetite, and infrequently, headaches. If symptoms persist or worsen, consult a physician. This medication also contains sodium benzoate, which can cause mild irritation to the skin, eyes, and mucous membranes, so caution is needed. Before use, shake the medication well to ensure it is mixed evenly, and store it out of reach of children. Additionally, it is advisable to keep it in a cool place, avoiding direct sunlight and humidity, with the lid tightly closed.
