Improves gastric and duodenal ulcers and gastric mucosal lesions, relieves symptoms of excess gastric acid
This medication is used to suppress gastric acid secretion and aid in the healing of ulcers in conditions such as gastric and duodenal ulcers and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It is also effective in treating gastroesophageal reflux disease and is used preoperatively for the prevention of Mendelson's syndrome. Additionally, it helps treat ulcers after surgery and gastric ulcers caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It improves gastric mucosal lesions that occur during acute exacerbations of acute and chronic gastritis and is also used to alleviate upper gastrointestinal bleeding. It is effective in relieving symptoms of excess gastric acid, such as heartburn and sour belching. Overall, the medication is useful for improving the health of the stomach and digestive tract.
As ranitidine, a single dose of 150 mg is taken orally twice a day, in the morning and at bedtime. - For gastric and duodenal ulcers: 150 mg once or twice daily or 300 mg once daily at bedtime. - For patients with duodenal ulcers: 300 mg twice a day, in the morning and at bedtime. - For maintenance therapy in patients with recurrent ulcers: 150 mg once daily at bedtime.
For children aged 8 to 18 years, a single dose of 150 mg (2 mg per kg of body weight) may be administered up to twice a day.
This drug should not be used in patients who have had allergic reactions to its components. It should also not be administered to patients with the rare metabolic disorder known as acute porphyria. This drug contains lactose, so patients with lactose intolerance or specific genetic lactose breakdown disorders should not take it. Patients with impaired kidney function may have delayed elimination of this drug, necessitating dose adjustments, and those with decreased liver function should also be used with caution. Those with a history of drug hypersensitivity, elderly patients, and those taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) should use this medication more cautiously. This drug can mask symptoms of gastric cancer, so patients with gastric ulcers or new or changed dyspeptic symptoms, particularly those aged 40 and over, should check for malignancy before treatment. Patients with gastric or duodenal ulcers infected with Helicobacter pylori require eradication therapy. During the course of treatment, patients may experience allergic reactions or shock symptoms, blood abnormalities, liver dysfunction, cardiac rhythm irregularities, gastrointestinal symptoms, psychiatric neurological abnormalities, muscle pain, skin rashes, or other side effects, and should immediately consult a healthcare professional if any symptoms occur. It is important to closely monitor the patient's condition during treatment and to conduct regular blood tests and liver and kidney function tests. Elderly patients or those with chronic conditions may have an increased risk of pneumonia. Additionally, if dizziness or drowsiness occurs after taking this medicine, patients should avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery. This drug may affect the absorption or metabolism of other drugs, so patients should inform their healthcare provider of any concurrent medications, particularly in the case of anticoagulants, which require close monitoring of coagulation status. Women who are pregnant, potentially pregnant, or breastfeeding should use this drug cautiously, only when necessary. Safety for children has not been adequately established, so extra care is needed when administering to children. Elderly patients may have an increased blood concentration of this medication due to decreased kidney function, necessitating dose adjustments and extended dosing intervals. Taking this drug may lead to false positive results in some urine tests, so care should be taken regarding testing methods. In case of overdose, it is important to receive appropriate treatment such as vomiting or gastric lavage, and if necessary, the drug can be removed by dialysis. This drug should be kept out of reach of children and transferring it to other containers should be avoided to maintain quality and prevent accidents. This drug can promote bacterial growth in the stomach by reducing gastric acid secretion, so additional care such as eye examinations may be needed with prolonged use.
