This medication is used to relieve pain caused by musculoskeletal disorders and to alleviate unnatural muscle contractions. It is effective for conditions such as lumbago in the lower back or back, cervical shoulder syndrome presenting in the neck, shoulders, and arms, periarthritis of the shoulder around the shoulder joint, and degenerative spine disease. This drug helps reduce muscle tension and pain, improving discomfort in daily life. Therefore, it is used for relief of musculoskeletal-related pain and muscle relaxation.

How to take

Adult dose

As chlorzoxazone, 200 to 400 mg per dose, taken orally 3 to 4 times a day. Adjust according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication can very rarely cause severe liver damage. Liver damage can sometimes be fatal; therefore, if you experience fever, rash, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, pain on the side of the head, darkening of urine, jaundice symptoms such as yellowing of the skin or eyes, or elevated liver function test values while taking this medication, you should immediately stop taking it and consult your doctor. Patients with a history of liver disease should consult a doctor before taking this medication. Patients who have had allergic reactions to this drug or do not tolerate it should not take it. Patients with liver or kidney function problems, or with a history of drug allergies should be more cautious when using this medication. If symptoms of hypersensitivity like rash, itching, or hives appear while taking this medication, you must stop taking it immediately. If you experience drowsiness, dizziness, staggering, lethargy, or hypersensitivity reactions, appropriate measures such as reducing the dose or discontinuing use should be taken. Liver dysfunction can occur rarely, so if you have unusual symptoms, stop taking the medication and consult your doctor. Gastrointestinal symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, heartburn, dyspepsia, diarrhea, constipation, and abdominal pain, and in rare cases gastrointestinal bleeding may occur. Rarely, serious allergic reactions such as allergic skin rash, skin bleeding, edema, and anaphylaxis may occur. Additionally, due to the drug's metabolites, urine color may change, so please be aware of this. This medication may cause drowsiness or decreased attention, so it is advisable to avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery. Taking this medication with specific drugs or drinking alcohol may enhance its effects or side effects, especially with phenothiazine drugs, central nervous system depressants, and MAO inhibitors, so it is best not to combine them. If it is unavoidable, the dose should be reduced and used cautiously. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should only take this medication when the therapeutic benefits are deemed to outweigh the risks, and breastfeeding should be stopped while using this medication. Safety has not been sufficiently proven for infants or children, so it should only be used when necessary. Elderly patients may have decreased physical functions, so caution is needed when using this medication, such as reducing the dosage.
