This medication is used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. It particularly lowers the risk of myocardial infarction and stroke in adults with multiple risk factors or in patients with type 2 diabetes, and reduces the risk of complications in patients with chronic stable angina and those who have undergone vascular surgery. It also helps to reduce the risk of non-fatal myocardial infarction, stroke, vascular surgery, hospitalization due to congestive heart failure, and angina in patients with heart disease. In terms of treating hyperlipidemia, it is effective in lowering total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia, while increasing HDL cholesterol levels. It is also used as an adjunct for certain dyslipidemia patients who do not respond to dietary changes and for patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. This medication applies to pediatric patients who meet specific criteria for familial hypercholesterolemia. This medication is used for cardiovascular health and the improvement of dyslipidemia.
