How to apply drops

Adult eye dose

For mild to moderate infections, instill 1-2 drops in the infected area every 4 hours. For severe infections, instill 2 drops every hour until symptoms improve, then gradually reduce the amount. Adjust according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication is an aminoglycoside antibiotic and should not be used in patients who have had hypersensitivity reactions to certain antibiotics. When used in the eyes, side effects such as eyelid itching, swelling, redness, conjunctival hyperemia, and temporary stinging may occur, so use should be discontinued immediately if these symptoms occur. Caution is required as irritation or discomfort may occur during use. To prevent the emergence of resistant bacteria, it is advisable to administer it only for the minimum necessary duration, and thorough history taking and skin sensitivity testing are recommended to prevent allergic reactions. With prolonged repeated use, resistant strains may proliferate excessively, so if bacterial superinfection occurs, use should be discontinued, and appropriate treatment should be sought. This medication’s ingredients should not be used with certain antibiotics, and care should be taken to monitor blood levels when used in combination with other aminoglycoside medications. During treatment, it is best to avoid wearing contact lenses to prevent the spread of infection, and as instilling may temporarily blur vision, driving or operating machinery should be avoided until vision becomes clear again. When used with anticoagulants, the risk of bleeding may increase, so blood coagulation status should be regularly monitored and anticoagulant dosage adjusted if necessary. During pregnancy, it should only be used when absolutely necessary, and during breastfeeding, it may be harmful to the baby, so breastfeeding should be stopped, or it should only be used when the benefits of treatment are judged to outweigh the risks. In case of overdose, symptoms such as inflammation, redness, increased tearing, swelling, and itching of the eyes may occur, and managing blood levels may be necessary, including treatments such as hemodialysis if required. This medication should not be injected directly into the eyes, and caution is needed as resistant strains have been reported.
