Treatment of musculoskeletal painful muscle spasms and neurogenic spastic paralysis
This medicine helps relieve the symptoms of painful muscle spasms associated with musculoskeletal diseases, such as scapulohumeral periarthritis, shoulder periarthritis, and low back pain. It is also used to improve stiffness caused by various central nervous system disorders, such as spastic paralysis due to neurological diseases, cerebrovascular disorders, spastic spinal paralysis, and cerebral palsy. This medication is effective for muscle stiffness resulting from postoperative and post-traumatic sequelae. By alleviating pain and stiffness present in complex neuromuscular disorders, it contributes to enhancing the patient's mobility and daily life functions. Therefore, this medicine is used to treat muscle stiffness and pain related to musculoskeletal and nervous system.
Eperisone hydrochloride at a dose of 50mg orally, three times a day after meals. Adjust appropriately according to age and symptoms.
This medication should not be used in certain patients. First, patients who have previously shown allergic reactions to this medication or those with myasthenia gravis should not take it. Additionally, individuals with genetic issues such as lactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should avoid taking this medication. Care should be taken when administering this drug to patients with a history of drug hypersensitivity or poor liver function. Patients with liver dysfunction need particular attention as liver function may deteriorate. Various side effects may occur while taking this medication, so careful observation is necessary. In rare cases, shock may occur, and if symptoms arise, the medication should be stopped immediately and appropriate treatment should be sought. Liver enzyme levels may increase, or renal function may become abnormal, so these symptoms should be monitored closely. Different symptoms such as blood abnormalities, skin rashes, itching, insomnia, drowsiness, headaches, indigestion, urinary issues can occur. Serious skin reactions or severe allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis may occur, so if symptoms like fever, skin rash, blisters, or stomatitis appear, discontinue use immediately. Symptoms such as weakness, stumbling, or drowsiness may occur during medication use, in which case the dosage should be reduced or discontinued. This medication may cause drowsiness and decreased attention, so driving or operating hazardous machinery should be avoided. Caution is necessary when taken with similar medications or specific muscle relaxants, as coordination disorders may arise. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only take this medication when its benefits outweigh the risks, as its safety is not guaranteed. Breastfeeding women should also avoid this medication if possible; if unavoidable, it is recommended to stop breastfeeding. Safety in children has not been sufficiently confirmed, so caution is advised in their use. Elderly patients may experience a decline in physical functions, so special attention with dosage adjustment is needed.
Shock (severe allergic reaction), anaphylaxis, angioedema (severe swelling), toxic epidermal necrolysis and mucocutaneous-ocular syndrome (severe skin adverse reaction), liver dysfunction (elevation of ALT, AST, ALP), jaundice symptoms monitoring necessary.
