Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with viral keratitis, fungal eye diseases, mycobacterial infections, or chronic blepharitis. It is also contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to this drug. In principle, it should not be used in patients with corneal epithelium that is peeling or ulcerated, patients with tuberculous or purulent eye diseases, glaucoma patients, and children under 2 years old. However, in unavoidable circumstances, it must be used with extreme caution. Long-term use may result in elevated intraocular pressure, which can cause optic nerve damage or vision loss; hence regular intraocular pressure checks are necessary. There is also a risk of worsening eye infections such as herpes keratitis or fungal infections, so appropriate treatment must be sought immediately if such symptoms occur. Long-term use of this drug can lead to cataracts, and immune function suppression may increase the risk of secondary ocular infections. In cases of acute purulent ocular infections, symptoms may be concealed or worsened, so caution is required. If inflammation or pain in the eyes persists for more than 48 hours or worsens, use should be discontinued, and a doctor must be consulted. For contact lens wearers, lenses should be removed before application and can be worn again after at least 30 minutes. While using this medication, temporary blurred vision may occur, so driving or operating hazardous machinery should be avoided. Patients at risk of infection with chickenpox or measles should confirm their medical history and vaccination status before using this drug; if infection is suspected or occurs, immediate medical evaluation is necessary. In particular, patients coincidentally taking children and some medications (such as ritonavir, cobicistat, etc.) may have an increased risk of systemic side effects, so care must be taken. Pregnant or nursing women should avoid prolonged use as safety has not been established; if nursing, they should either refrain from this medication or stop nursing during treatment. Special care is needed for children and elderly patients; this drug is for ophthalmic use only, and care should be taken to ensure the tip of the container does not come into direct contact with the eyes. Before use, the medication should be shaken well, and it is recommended not to share it with others to prevent contamination. This medication should be stored away from direct sunlight and in a cool place, safely out of reach of children. Additionally, transferring it to another container should be avoided to maintain the quality of the medication.
