This medication is used for the treatment of essential hypertension and is also effective in patients with heart failure classified as NYHA Class II to IV who cannot use ACE inhibitors. Additionally, it helps reduce the risk of death in stable patients with left ventricular dysfunction or systolic dysfunction following a myocardial infarction. Therefore, it is used for hypertension control, improvement of heart failure symptoms, and prevention of complications after myocardial infarction.

How to take

Adult dose

Essential Hypertension: Take with water during meals or between meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning), with a single oral dose of 80 mg once daily. If blood pressure is not well controlled, the dose can be increased to 160 mg once daily or combined with a diuretic, with a maximum increase up to 320 mg. Elderly patients (75 years and older): Start with a dose of 40 mg once daily. Patients with renal impairment.

Child dose

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Hives, severe swelling (angioedema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe rash with fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in oral/ocular mucosa, difficulty breathing or shortness of breath, asthma attack, respiratory abnormalities accompanied by cough and fever, jaundice of the skin or eyes, general malaise, sudden and severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, confusion, visual disturbances, paralysis, significantly decreased urine output.
