Treatment of hypertension and kidney disease (patients with type 2 diabetes)
This medication is used to treat hypertension, and is particularly effective in patients with hypertension and kidney disease due to type 2 diabetes. It helps manage blood pressure to stabilize it and slows the progression of kidney disease. Therefore, it is used for blood pressure control and kidney protection.
This medication is recommended to be taken orally at a dosage of 50 mg once daily at the same time, regardless of meals. If the therapeutic effect is insufficient, the dosage can be split into two doses per day or increased to a maximum of 100 mg once daily. In patients with type 2 diabetes and kidney disease who have hypertension, typically 50 mg once daily, with possible increase to 100 mg once daily based on blood pressure. There is a concern of excessive blood pressure lowering.

This drug can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued as soon as pregnancy is confirmed. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not use this medication. Patients with severely impaired liver function or certain genetic disorders should not take this medication. Patients with a history of angioedema or certain heart valve diseases should also exercise caution. Elderly patients, those with hyperkalemia, and patients with mild to moderate liver dysfunction should use this medication cautiously as there is a risk of rapid blood pressure drop. This drug is generally well tolerated, but side effects such as dizziness, muscle cramps, back pain, and upper respiratory infections may occur. Rarely, serious adverse reactions such as angioedema, liver function abnormalities, rhabdomyolysis, and hyperkalemia may occur, so patients should consult a doctor immediately if any unusual symptoms arise. This medication may interact with other drugs; caution is advised when taken with potassium-sparing diuretics or potassium supplements, certain anti-inflammatory pain relievers, and lithium. In particular, grapefruit juice may reduce the effectiveness of this drug, so it should be avoided during treatment. It is advisable for pregnant and nursing women to avoid this medication, and if it must be used, consultation with a specialist is necessary. It should not be given to children, especially those under 6 years old or children with severely impaired kidney function. In the case of overdose, symptoms of low blood pressure and tachycardia may occur, requiring immediate treatment, and this drug is not removed by dialysis. During treatment, regular checks of blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolyte levels in the blood are necessary, and patients should consult healthcare professionals immediately if any unusual symptoms appear. Additionally, there may be dizziness or drowsiness due to blood pressure reduction, so caution should be exercised while driving or operating machinery. This medication should be kept out of reach of children and should not be transferred to another container for safety purposes.
