How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dosage for adults is one tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). For patients with mild to moderate renal impairment (creatinine clearance above 10 mL/min), no adjustment is needed. This medication should not be administered to patients with severe renal impairment or those on dialysis. For patients with liver impairment, valsartan should not exceed 80 mg per day.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established in pediatric patients under 18 years of age, and use of this medication is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn when taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Individuals allergic to the active ingredients or similar components, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and those with severe kidney or liver diseases should not take this medication. Caution should be exercised when using this medication in cases of sodium or fluid depletion, hyperkalemia, or abnormalities in renal blood vessels; blood pressure and renal function should be monitored frequently. Patients with heart-related diseases, including heart failure or those recovering from myocardial infarction, or aortic stenosis should also take this medication with caution. As this medication may lower blood pressure, patients may experience hypotension when starting therapy or increasing the dose; if symptoms arise, they should lie down immediately and seek medical attention if necessary. Additionally, this medication can increase potassium levels, so potassium concentrations should be regularly checked when taking it with potassium supplements or drugs rich in potassium. Dizziness or fatigue may occur while driving or operating machinery, so caution is advised. Overdosing on this medication may cause severe hypotension or cardiac arrhythmias; therefore, the dosage guidelines must be strictly followed, and immediate medical attention is required in cases of overdose. Finally, this medication is not recommended for children due to insufficient evidence regarding its safety and efficacy, though elderly patients can take it at the same dosage as adults.
