How to take

Adult dose

For adults, the usual starting dose is 1 to 2 milligrams of Pitavastatin Calcium taken once daily. If the LDL-cholesterol lowering effect is insufficient, the dose may be increased to a maximum of 4 milligrams daily. Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, patients with an allergy to any component of this drug, patients with active liver disease, patients with severe liver impairment or bile duct obstruction, and patients taking cyclosporine should not take this medication. Additionally, it should not be administered to patients with myopathies, pregnant women, women who might become pregnant, nursing mothers, and children. Patients with genetic issues like lactose intolerance should also avoid this medication. This medication should be administered with caution in patients with impaired kidney function or a history of liver disease, and in those who consume alcohol excessively. In particular, caution is required when taken in combination with fibrates or niacin due to the increased risk of muscle damage. Elderly individuals, patients with hypothyroidism, and those with a history of muscular disease should also be cautious. During the use of this medication, symptoms such as muscle pain, weakness, abdominal pain, rash, and itching may appear; if any abnormal symptoms occur, immediate notification of medical personnel is required. Regular liver function tests and blood tests should be conducted, and if there are signs of liver dysfunction, thrombocytopenia, or muscle damage, discontinuation of therapy is necessary. This medication may interact with other drugs, so caution is needed when used with cyclosporine, fibrates, niacin, and cholestyramine. Always consult medical personnel regarding other medications being taken. Elderly patients have decreased bodily functions and may experience adverse reactions more easily, so caution is needed during administration. Pregnant or nursing women should not take this medication, and women who could become pregnant should confirm their pregnancy status before taking it. The safety of this medication in children has not been established, therefore it is not used. This medication must be taken exactly as prescribed, and tablets should be swallowed whole without being divided. When storing, keep it out of the reach of children, and store it in its original container to maintain its quality. This medication can rarely cause serious muscle diseases; if muscle-related symptoms appear, immediate discontinuation and consultation with medical personnel are necessary.
