It is recommended to avoid the use of this medication during menstruation, and oral treatment may be needed for a complete resolution of vaginal infections. If vulvitis or candidiasis of the glans is present, the additional use of creams is recommended, and it is advisable for sexual partners to be treated simultaneously if symptoms are present. Personal towels and underwear should be replaced and washed daily to prevent reinfection, and the use of tampons, vaginal washes, or other vaginal insertion products should be avoided during treatment. It is advisable to avoid vaginal intercourse during a vaginal infection or while using this medication, as it may infect the partner. Care should be taken to avoid getting this medication in the eyes and it should never be swallowed. If symptoms such as high fever, lower abdominal pain, malodorous vaginal discharge, nausea, vaginal bleeding, or shoulder pain occur, immediate consultation with a doctor is necessary. No cases of toxicity have been reported from overdose; however, if a large amount is accidentally ingested, quick measures such as gastric lavage should be taken.
