Precautions

This drug should not be used by patients who are allergic to quinolone antibiotics or have experienced hypersensitivity reactions. Rarely, serious allergic reactions such as shock may occur when using this drug, so if symptoms such as nausea, limb coldness, or difficulty breathing occur, discontinue use immediately and seek appropriate treatment. In addition, hypersensitivity symptoms such as cardiovascular collapse, loss of consciousness, angioedema, airway obstruction, rash, urticaria, pruritus, and redness or swelling of the eyes and skin may occur, and drug use should be stopped if these symptoms arise. Temporary burning or irritation and discomfort may occur in the eyes, and in severe cases symptoms such as keratitis, conjunctivitis, eye edema, blurred vision, tearing, dryness, eye pain, and dizziness may appear. Especially, serious skin and eye conditions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome may occur very rarely, so if these symptoms occur, drug use should be discontinued immediately. Caution is needed as this drug may cause auditory disturbances or irritation symptoms. This drug poses a risk of inflammation or rupture of tendons such as in the shoulder, hand, and Achilles tendon, and this risk increases particularly in elderly patients or those concurrently using corticosteroids, so if pain or inflammation symptoms arise, discontinue use immediately. To prevent the emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, it should only be used for an appropriate duration as determined by sensitivity testing, and long-term use should be avoided as it may lead to excessive growth of fungi or resistant bacteria. Its effectiveness against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) has not been established, so if MRSA infection is suspected or symptoms do not improve, a switch to another antibiotic should be made. The use of this drug in pregnant women or women who may become pregnant should be carefully assessed, and lactating women should discontinue breastfeeding or cease medication use. Safety and effectiveness have not been confirmed for infants under 1 year of age, so its use is not recommended. This drug should only be used for ophthalmic purposes, and care should be taken to avoid direct contact of the container opening with the eye. Avoid sharing and use personally to prevent contamination. Store out of reach of children, away from direct sunlight, and in a cool place. To maintain quality, do not transfer to other containers.
