This medication helps improve the symptoms caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia. The enlarged prostate reduces, allowing smoother urine flow, and decreasing the frequency of acute urinary retention. It is also used to reduce the need for prostate-related surgeries, such as transurethral resection of the prostate or prostatectomy.

How to take

Adult dose

As finasteride, administer 5 mg orally once a day, regardless of meals. A minimum of 6 months of treatment is required even if symptoms improve during administration.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in children or women. In particular, women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not touch broken pieces of this medication, as it may pose a potential risk to a male fetus. This medication can cause mental symptoms, such as mood changes, depression, and in severe cases, suicidal thoughts, so if these symptoms occur, consult a healthcare professional immediately. This medication should not be used by individuals with allergies to it or its ingredients. It should also not be administered to patients with specific genetic problems, such as lactose intolerance. Patients with liver function abnormalities or a history of allergy to the dye in this medication should use it with caution.
