This medication contains a dye called Yellow No. 5, which requires caution in individuals allergic to this component. Various side effects may occur during use. In the digestive system, diarrhea, loose stools, and abdominal pain may commonly occur, and prolonged use can lead to serious issues such as gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcers, and perforations. Severe diarrhea may result in dehydration and electrolyte imbalance, necessitating caution. When taking for long periods, it is essential to follow the doctor's instructions, and if diarrhea occurs, dosing should be stopped immediately, and a doctor consulted. It is also advised to avoid using laxatives concurrently with this medication. For liver health, signs of liver damage should be carefully monitored, especially when used with other medications affecting the liver. Limiting alcohol consumption is also advisable. This medication may have reduced absorption when taken with antacids containing calcium, magnesium, and aluminum or with salts, so it should be taken at least 2 hours apart from these drugs. Furthermore, using it together with diuretics may strengthen diuretic effects, increasing the risk of dehydration and hypokalemia, so caution is necessary. When combined with heart glycosides, there may be an increased risk of arrhythmias. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised against taking this medication as animal studies have reported delays in fetal bone formation, and it may transfer in small amounts through breast milk.
