  • Exogenous obesity
  • hypertension
  • diabetes
  • hyperlipidemia
View approved original text

This medication is intended for patients with initial obesity having a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher, or for those with exogenous obesity having a BMI of 27 or higher and risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, or hyperlipidemia. It is used as a short-term adjunct therapy when there is no response to basic weight reduction methods, including exercise, behavior modification, and calorie restriction. Additionally, this medication must be used alone and not in combination with other appetite suppressants. The appropriateness of treatment is determined by calculating BMI based on the patient's weight and height. This medication effectively helps with weight loss and contributes to the improvement of risk factors. Therefore, it is used to enhance healthy weight management.
