Treatment of hypertension and heart failure (reduction of mortality risk after myocardial infarction) and hyperlipidemia (delay of atherosclerosis progression)
This medication contains two ingredients, valsartan and rosuvastatin, which are used only in specific patients. Valsartan is effective in reducing mortality risk in patients primarily with essential hypertension, heart failure intolerant to ACE inhibitors, and those with left ventricular dysfunction following myocardial infarction. Meanwhile, rosuvastatin is used as an adjunct to dietary therapy for hyperlipidemia, particularly familial hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia, and helps delay the progression of atherosclerosis. Additionally, it contributes to the reduction of stroke, myocardial infarction, and arterial revascularization risks in patients at high cardiovascular risk. By administering these two medications together, blood pressure control and cholesterol management can be achieved simultaneously, effectively improving cardiovascular health.
Essential hypertension: It is recommended to take this medication with water during meals or in between meals. Taking it at the same time daily (e.g., in the morning) is encouraged. Adults: A single oral dose of 80 mg per day is recommended, and if blood pressure control is insufficient, it can be increased up to 160 mg per day, with a maximum of 320 mg. Heart failure: Starting with two doses of 40 mg per day, it can be increased to 80 mg or 160 mg as needed.
