Adjunctive treatment for osteoporosis and prevention of vitamin D deficiency disorders (such as rickets)
This medication assists in the adjunctive treatment of osteoporosis and helps prevent the risk of diseases caused by vitamin D deficiency. It is also used to prevent the occurrence of rickets, thereby maintaining bone health.
Adjunctive treatment for osteoporosis: 1 tablet (1000 IU) once daily. Prevention of vitamin D deficiency in healthy individuals without absorption issues: 1/2 tablet (500 IU) once daily. Prevention of rickets: 1/2 tablet (500 IU) once daily. Take with sufficient water.
For infants having difficulty swallowing the tablet: Place the tablet on a spoon, dissolve it in water, and take it with food if possible. When adding to food, it should be added after cooking, and dosage may need to be adjusted if the food is high in vitamin D.
This drug should not be used in patients with hypercalcemia (too high calcium levels in the blood) or hypercalciuria (excessive calcium excretion in urine). Additionally, patients with genetic conditions such as galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, and glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take this medication. Patients with kidney stones or allergies to this drug or its components should also avoid it, and it should not be administered to infants under three months of age. During the use of this medication, it is advised not to use thiazide diuretics as it may lead to dangerously high calcium levels in the blood. Infants under one year old or currently undergoing treatment should consult with a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. Furthermore, children exposed to ample sunlight and who have normal diets should avoid vitamin D or calcium supplements. Caution is also needed for patients with a history of kidney stones, sarcoidosis, limited mobility, those taking thiazide derivatives, and those with pseudoparathyroidism. Pregnant women should be careful with dosages to avoid potential effects on the physical and intellectual development of the fetus in case of overdose. Breastfeeding women should be cautious as the components of this drug can transfer into breast milk and cause hypercalcemia in newborns. Patients with impaired kidney function, those taking other vitamin D preparations, those on phenytoin or barbiturates, and those on thiazide diuretics or glucocorticoids should consult a professional before taking this medication. Any occurrences of neurological symptoms, consciousness disturbances, headaches, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, weight loss, and increased thirst while taking this medication should prompt immediate discontinuation and consultation with a doctor or pharmacist. Symptoms related to excessive calcium, such as arrhythmia, kidney stones, renal calcification, calcification of surrounding bone tissue, muscle pain, and joint pain, should also be monitored closely. For doses exceeding 500 IU daily, it is recommended to regularly check calcium levels in blood and urine as well as kidney function, adjusting dosage if abnormalities arise. If infants have difficulty swallowing tablets, they can dissolve the tablet in water for consumption. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and should not be transferred to other containers to maintain quality; it should be kept away from direct sunlight in a cool, dry place.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
Do not take this medication in conjunction with thiazide diuretics. Consult with a doctor or pharmacist when taking other vitamin D preparations, phenytoin, barbiturates, thiazide diuretics, or glucocorticoids.
