Treatment of musculoskeletal pain-related muscle spasm and neurologic rigidity paralysis
This medication helps alleviate symptoms of painful muscle spasms caused by musculoskeletal disorders, such as shoulder-arm syndrome, adhesive capsulitis, and lower back pain. It is also used to treat rigidity paralysis caused by neurologic diseases and is effective for a variety of brain and spinal cord disorders, including cerebrovascular disorders, spastic spinal cord injuries, cervical spondylosis, postoperative sequelae, post-traumatic sequelae, and cerebral palsy. In summary, this drug improves muscle rigidity and pain, making everyday life more comfortable for patients.
Eperisone hydrochloride as a single dose of 50 mg 3 times a day after meals. The dosage should be adjusted appropriately according to age and symptoms.
This medication should not be used in certain patients. Firstly, patients who have had allergic reactions to this drug or those suffering from myasthenia gravis should not take it. Furthermore, as this drug contains lactose, patients with galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should also avoid taking it. When using this drug, caution is necessary for patients with a history of drug hypersensitivity or poor liver function. It should be administered cautiously in cases of liver impairment as liver function may worsen. During treatment, various side effects may occur, so caution is required. Rarely, shock responses may occur, so symptoms should be closely monitored, and if abnormal symptoms arise, the medication should be discontinued immediately, and appropriate treatment should be sought. Abnormal liver function, kidney function issues, and blood abnormalities like anemia may also occur rarely, so symptoms should be observed closely. Various symptoms such as skin rash or itching, insomnia, drowsiness, headaches, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, and abdominal pain may sometimes appear. Additionally, this medication may affect the central nervous system, leading to symptoms such as stiffness or tremors that occur infrequently. Urinary symptoms may include urinary retention, incontinence, and a feeling of incomplete bladder emptying, and systemic symptoms like fatigue or dizziness may also be experienced. Serious skin adverse reactions, such as toxic epidermal necrolysis and mucocutaneous ocular syndrome, may occur, so signs such as fever, rash, blisters, itching, conjunctival injection, and stomatitis should be carefully monitored, and if these symptoms appear, the medication should be discontinued immediately, and medical attention must be sought. During treatment, symptoms such as fatigue, dizziness, and drowsiness may develop, so dosage should be reduced or the medication should be stopped if such symptoms occur. Furthermore, caution is advised as drowsiness or reduced concentration may occur, and it is better to avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery. When taken in combination with similar drugs or specific muscle relaxants, visual disturbances have been reported, so care should be taken with concomitant use. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this medication if the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks, as its safety is not assured. Nursing mothers should avoid taking it if possible, and if it must be taken, discontinuation of breastfeeding is recommended. The safety of this medication in children has not been sufficiently established, so it should be used cautiously. Elderly patients may have diminished physiological function, so it is important to prescribe it with caution and possibly reduce the dosage.
