This medication is used for painful muscle spasms associated with musculoskeletal disorders, such as shoulder-hand syndrome, shoulder periarthritis, and lower back pain. It is also effective for the treatment of spastic paralysis caused by neurological disorders. Neurological conditions include various central nervous system diseases such as cerebrovascular disorders, spastic spinal paralysis, cervical spondylosis, postoperative sequelae (including brain and spinal tumors), trauma-related sequelae (spinal injuries, head trauma), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, cerebral palsy, spinocerebellar degeneration, spinal vascular disorders, and subacute spinal cord neuropathy. This medicine helps relieve these symptoms and improve muscle stiffness, thus it is used to treat muscle stiffness and pain associated with musculoskeletal and neurological disorders.

How to take

Adult dose

Administer 50mg of eperison hydrochloride orally three times a day after meals. Adjust according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity or those with myasthenia gravis. Additionally, since this drug contains lactose, it should not be administered to patients with genetic conditions such as lactose intolerance, lactose enzyme deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Patients with a history of hypersensitivity to medications or liver function impairment should use this drug with caution, as liver function may worsen. Rarely, shock reactions may occur, so symptoms should be closely monitored during administration, and if abnormalities in liver function tests (ALT, AST, ALP) or renal function indicators (proteinuria, BUN) are found, administration must be stopped immediately and appropriate measures taken. Adverse effects such as anemia, skin rash, itching, insomnia, drowsiness, headache, limb paralysis, body stiffness, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, urinary retention, incontinence, weakness, dizziness, facial flushing, sweating, and edema may occur; thus, it is essential to consult a professional if these symptoms arise. In particular, serious skin adverse reactions such as toxic epidermal necrolysis and mucocutaneous-ocular syndrome (Stevens-Johnson syndrome) can occur, so if symptoms such as fever, erythema, blisters, itching, eye congestion, or stomatitis appear, discontinue use immediately and seek medical attention. Drowsiness, dizziness, and weakness may occur while taking this medication, so dosage should be reduced or stopped if these symptoms occur. This medication may cause drowsiness or impaired concentration, so caution is advised when driving a vehicle or operating hazardous machinery. When taken with similar drugs like tolperisone hydrochloride or methocarbamol, adjustment disorders may occur, requiring careful monitoring when combined. Pregnant women or women who may become pregnant should only use this drug if the therapeutic benefit outweighs the risks, as safety has not been established, and breastfeeding should be avoided if possible; if necessary, breastfeeding should be discontinued. Safety in children has not been sufficiently confirmed, so careful use is necessary, and elderly patients may also require dosage adjustments due to declining physical function.
