Improvement in blood pressure control of essential hypertension
This medication is used to effectively lower blood pressure in the treatment of essential hypertension when the patient's blood pressure is not sufficiently controlled by monotherapy with amlodipine or valsartan.
The recommended dose of this medication is one tablet once daily, taken with water irrespective of meals. It is advisable to take it at the same time each day, for example in the morning. Dosing can be adjusted according to blood pressure control status with the available strengths of 5/80 milligrams, 5/160 milligrams, and 10/160 milligrams.
Safety and efficacy have not been established for pediatric patients under 18 years of age, so the administration of this medication is not recommended.
This medication may cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Patients with allergies to this medication or similar class drugs should not take it. It is safest for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding to avoid using this medication. Patients with very poor kidney function or serious liver problems should not take this medication. Diabetic patients or those with moderate to severe kidney impairment should avoid taking this medication with certain other medications containing specific ingredients. Patients with a history of angioedema or those who have experienced angioedema due to related medications should also avoid this medication. This medication is contraindicated in patients with severe aortic stenosis or in shock. If there is sodium or fluid depletion, the condition should be well controlled before taking this medication, and blood pressure and condition should be carefully monitored during use. Patients with high potassium levels should frequently check their potassium levels when taking this medication along with potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics. Patients with renal artery stenosis need to be cautious due to the risk of worsening kidney function. For patients who have recently undergone kidney transplantation, the safety of this medication has not been established, so it is best not to use it. If symptoms of angioedema occur, the medication should be stopped immediately and should not be re-dosed. Patients with heart failure or post-myocardial infarction should have their kidney function periodically evaluated during treatment with this medication, paying particular attention to symptoms. In acute myocardial infarction patients, symptoms of angina or myocardial infarction may worsen after taking this medication, necessitating caution. Patients with certain heart valve diseases or obstructive cardiomyopathy should exercise special caution when taking this medication. This medication is not recommended to be taken with other medications that act on the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system. Patients with mild to moderate liver impairment should adjust the dosage of this medication accordingly. Dizziness or fatigue may appear during the course of this medication, so care should be taken when driving or operating machinery. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension or increased heart rate may occur, so immediate medical attention is required. This medication is not recommended for children as its safety and effectiveness have not been adequately established. Elderly patients can take the same dosage as adults but should be carefully monitored for their condition. During the course of this medication, blood pressure, kidney function, and potassium levels should be regularly checked to ensure there are no abnormalities. There may be interactions with other medications, so if you are taking other medicines, be sure to inform your doctor or pharmacist.
