Improvement of blood pressure control in essential hypertension with the combination of amlodipine and valsartan
This medication is used for patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure control is insufficient with monotherapy of amlodipine or valsartan. In other words, it helps manage blood pressure more effectively when treatment with a single drug does not provide adequate control. This contributes to stabilizing blood pressure and reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease.
The recommended dosage for this medication is 1 tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (e.g., morning) if possible.
The safety and efficacy in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established, and administration of this drug is not recommended.
This medication may cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second or third trimester of pregnancy, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. It should not be used in patients who are allergic to the active ingredients or similar class medications, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and patients with severe kidney or liver disease. Patients with fluid or sodium depletion should correct their status before taking this medication, and blood pressure and condition should be closely monitored at the start of therapy. Patients with high potassium levels should be cautious when taking this medication with potassium supplements or medications that can elevate potassium, and regular blood tests to monitor potassium levels are necessary. Patients with renal artery stenosis or those who have received kidney transplants should use this medication with caution as changes in kidney function may occur. If allergic reactions such as vascular swelling, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue occur during the course of this medication, use should be discontinued immediately, and medical consultation is necessary. Patients with heart failure or after myocardial infarction should periodically check kidney function and blood pressure while on this medication, and dose adjustments may be required. This medication may interact with other antihypertensive drugs, so any other medications being taken should be reported to healthcare professionals. Caution is required during driving or machine operation, as dizziness or fatigue may occur. In cases of overdose, severe symptoms such as hypotension, dizziness, and increased heart rate may occur; therefore, it is essential to adhere to the prescribed dosage, and in case of unusual symptoms, contact medical personnel immediately.
