Precautions

This medication is used in the treatment of diabetes and helps to control blood sugar by acting with insulin. This medication can put a strain on the heart, so patients with heart failure or a history of heart failure should not use it. During treatment, careful monitoring for sudden weight gain, shortness of breath, and swelling in the legs, indicative of heart failure, is necessary. Fluid retention or edema may occur, and if these symptoms worsen, consultation with a physician for medication adjustment is required. Patients with a history of bladder cancer or those with active bladder cancer should not use this medication. If symptoms such as hematuria or urinary problems occur during treatment, notify a physician immediately. Patients with impaired liver function should also undergo regular liver function tests while using this medication. If symptoms suggestive of liver damage arise, consult healthcare personnel immediately. There is a risk of hypoglycemia when taking this medication, so pay special attention to hypoglycemic symptoms, especially when taken with insulin or other hypoglycemic agents. For premenopausal women, ovulation may be stimulated, increasing the likelihood of pregnancy, so using appropriate contraception is essential. Elderly patients or those with reduced kidney function should also take caution while using this medication and adjust the dosage as advised by their doctor. This medication should be taken once daily; if a dose is missed, do not take double the dose the next day. There may be drug interactions, so if you are taking other medications, be sure to inform healthcare personnel. Regular monitoring of blood sugar and liver function tests is important during the treatment period, and if any unusual symptoms appear, seek prompt medical attention.
