Precautions

This medicine should not be administered to certain patients. For example, individuals allergic to this medicine or its components, those with thyroid dysfunction, poor kidney function, infants under 6 months old, patients with herpetic dermatitis, and those before and after receiving radioactive iodine treatment should not use this product. Moreover, it should be used with caution in severely ill patients, those with a history of thyroid disease, and those with a history of renal failure. This medicine can rarely cause allergic reactions, and if symptoms such as difficulty breathing, skin rash, or hives occur, use should be discontinued immediately. Skin pain, itching, irritation, redness, and rash may occur, and in severe cases, skin ulcers or contact dermatitis may develop. If these symptoms worsen, use should be stopped. Using a large quantity may lead to serious side effects such as electrolyte imbalance, metabolic acidosis, and renal failure, so caution is needed. Prolonged use may change thyroid function and alter serum levels of thyroid-stimulating hormones. If this medicine is used in large amounts or applied repeatedly to extensive wounds, irritation and swelling in the mouth, throat, and eyes may occur, as well as digestive disturbances or difficulty breathing. Iodine toxicity may appear with excessive use, so caution is warranted. If this medicine is used just before delivery, the newborn's eyes and skin should be thoroughly washed, and since this medicine is considered conservative treatment, if symptoms do not improve, other treatment methods should be considered. When used for extensive burn patients, careful monitoring of fluid supply, kidney function, and metabolic status is necessary, and since thyroid function tests may be affected, the timing of inspections and use of this medicine should be adjusted. This medicine should be avoided in combination with lithium treatment as it may cause thyroid dysfunction, and its effectiveness may decrease when used with certain disinfectants or enzyme-containing medications. It should also not be used with hydrogen peroxide. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not use this medicine for long periods or extensively, as iodine can cross the placenta and be excreted in breast milk, potentially affecting the thyroid function of the fetus or newborn, so checking the thyroid function of the newborn is advisable. Care should be taken to prevent this medicine from getting into the eyes, and if it does, it should be immediately rinsed out with clean water. It should not be mixed with other agents, and the affected area should be washed clean before application. After use, clothing or fabrics that this medicine has come into contact with should be washed immediately, and soaps may interfere with its antimicrobial action, so adequate rinsing is required before use. Also, in electro-surgery, this medicine's electrical insulating properties could impact safety, so caution is necessary. This medicine should be stored away from direct sunlight, and care should be taken as it may corrode if stored in metal containers. Finally, caution is required as the use of this medicine intravaginally may lead to increased serum iodine levels.
