This medication is used for the treatment of essential hypertension. Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

For patients whose blood pressure cannot be adequately controlled with telmisartan alone, this medication is taken once daily with water, regardless of food intake. The dosage of each component should be adjusted individually, and when clinically appropriate, direct transition from monotherapy to this combination therapy may be considered. - The Telmisartan/Hydrochlorothiazide combination 40/12.5mg may be prescribed to those who cannot adequately control their blood pressure with 40mg of telmisartan alone.

Precautions

This medication should not be used during pregnancy, especially during the second and third trimesters, as it can cause serious harm to the fetus. It should not be administered to individuals with allergies to the active ingredients or excipients, those with hypersensitivity to certain sulfonamide drugs, pregnant women in the second and third trimesters, nursing mothers, individuals with obstructive biliary disease, or patients with severe liver or kidney dysfunction. Especially, this drug can interact with other antihypertensive medications, diuretics, lithium, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, so it is essential to consult with a doctor or pharmacist if taking other medications. If planning to become pregnant or upon confirmation of pregnancy, this medication should be discontinued immediately, and consultation with a physician is recommended. It is also advisable not to take this drug while breastfeeding. In the case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, cardiac arrhythmias, and electrolyte abnormalities may occur, and immediate medical attention should be sought if symptoms arise.
