This medication is used to effectively lower blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension who have difficulty controlling blood pressure with monotherapy using amlodipine or valsartan.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dosage for this medication is 1 tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is advised to take it at the same time every day (e.g., morning). The dosage may be adjusted to appropriate levels of 5/80 mg, 5/160 mg, or 10/160 mg based on blood pressure control. In patients with kidney impairment, dosage adjustment is necessary for mild to moderate impairment (creatinine clearance greater than 10 mL/min).

Child dose

The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established in pediatric patients under 18 years of age, and its administration is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus when taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it must be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. This medication should not be used by women who are allergic to the active ingredients, pregnant, breastfeeding, or patients with severe kidney or liver dysfunction. Patients with low sodium or fluid may experience hypotension; thus, their condition should be corrected before taking this medication, and careful monitoring is required during administration. Patients with heart failure or those recovering from myocardial infarction require careful monitoring, including evaluation of kidney function. Dizziness or fatigue may occur when driving or operating machinery, so caution is advised. This medication may interact with other antihypertensives, potassium supplements, diuretics, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, so it is essential to consult a physician or pharmacist about concurrent use of any other medications. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, dizziness, and tachycardia may occur; thus, if any abnormal symptoms arise, a healthcare facility should be visited immediately. This medication is not recommended for patients under 18 years of age as its safety and effectiveness have not been sufficiently established. Elderly patients can be administered similar dosages as general adults, but careful monitoring is necessary.
