Improvement in blood pressure control for essential hypertension
This medication is used for the treatment of essential hypertension when blood pressure is not adequately controlled with either amlodipine or valsartan monotherapy. It helps to lower blood pressure more effectively, thereby reducing the cardiovascular risks associated with hypertension.
The recommended dosage for this medication is 1 tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). Dosage forms of 5/80mg, 5/160mg, and 10/160mg should be selected based on blood pressure control, and careful adjustment of dosage is necessary for patients with renal or hepatic impairment. It should not be administered to patients with moderate to severe renal impairment or those on dialysis.
Safety and efficacy have not been established for pediatric patients under 18 years of age, hence the use is not recommended.
This medication may cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn when taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. It should not be administered to individuals with hypersensitivity to this drug, pregnant or breastfeeding women, patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment, patients with certain cardiac conditions, etc. In patients with sodium or fluid depletion, hypotension may occur, so it is important to assess the condition before administration and monitor closely. Patients with high potassium levels or those taking medications that can increase potassium levels should have their potassium levels frequently checked. Special precautions are needed for patients with impaired renal function, transplant patients, and those with a history of angioedema when taking this medication. Patients with heart failure or after myocardial infarction should monitor renal function changes and consult healthcare professionals if symptoms of hypotension or heart-related abnormalities occur while taking this medication. This drug may cause dizziness or fatigue, so caution is needed while driving or operating machinery. It may interact with other medications, so if taking potassium supplements, diuretics, NSAIDs, certain antibiotics, or cardiovascular medications, you must inform your doctor or pharmacist. Overdosage may lead to hypotension or cardiac arrhythmias, so it is essential to adhere to the prescribed dosage and seek immediate medical attention if any unusual symptoms arise. This medication is not recommended for use in children under 18 as its safety and efficacy have not been sufficiently established. For the elderly, it can be administered at the same dose as adults, but it should be done according to physician's instructions based on individual conditions. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, as well as breastfeeding women, should avoid using this medication, and consult a specialist if necessary.
