Improvement in blood pressure control with the combination of amlodipine and valsartan for essential hypertension
Patients with essential hypertension can manage their blood pressure more effectively using this medication, if blood pressure is not adequately controlled with amlodipine or valsartan alone. This helps reduce cardiovascular risks associated with elevated blood pressure and improves health.
The recommended dosage for this medication is 1 tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). 5/80 mg: Administered to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with amlodipine 5 mg or valsartan 80 mg monotherapy. 5/160 mg: Administered to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with amlodipine 5 mg or valsartan 160 mg monotherapy.
Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established, therefore the use of this medication is not recommended.
This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and neonate when taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients allergic to any ingredients of this medication, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, patients with severe kidney or liver dysfunction, and those with a history of certain heart diseases or angioedema should not take this medication. Patients with sodium or fluid depletion, hyperkalemia, renal artery stenosis, recent kidney transplant, heart failure, or following myocardial infarction should exercise caution when taking this medication, and blood pressure, kidney function, and potassium levels should be monitored regularly. While taking this medication, side effects such as headache, dizziness, swelling, fatigue, palpitations, skin rash, and dyspepsia may occur. If any unusual symptoms persist or become severe, consult a doctor. Be cautious when driving or operating machinery as dizziness or fatigue may occur, especially if blood pressure drops suddenly, immediate medical assistance is required. This medication may interact with other antihypertensives, potassium supplements, diuretics, and certain anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), as well as drugs that affect liver function, so inform your doctor or pharmacist about any other medications you are taking. Women planning to become pregnant or who are pregnant should not use this medication, and breastfeeding women are also advised to avoid its use. It is recommended not to use this medication in children under 18 years of age, as its safety and efficacy have not been sufficiently established. The same dosage as adults may be used for the elderly, but careful observation is necessary. In case of overdose, severe hypotension or cardiac problems may occur, so do not exceed the prescribed dosage and if overdose is suspected, seek immediate medical attention.
Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, paleness, severe rash with fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in the oral/conjunctival mucosa, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attack, cough with fever and respiratory distress, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), extreme fatigue, sudden severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, confusion, visual disturbances, paralysis, urination issues.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
Store this medication in a tightly closed container to protect it from air and moisture. It is recommended to maintain a storage temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius.
