This medication is used to effectively treat essential hypertension when blood pressure control with monotherapy of amlodipine or valsartan is insufficient.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dosage of this medication is 1 tablet once daily, taken with water, regardless of meals. It is advised to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). For patients with renal impairment, no dosage adjustment is needed for mild to moderate cases; however, it should not be administered to severe renal impairment or dialysis patients. For patients with hepatic impairment, the daily dose of valsartan should not exceed 80 mg in mild to moderate hepatic impairment.

Child dose

Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established, so the administration of this medication is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second or third trimester of pregnancy, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with allergies to the main ingredients of this medication or similar drugs, pregnant or breastfeeding women, patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment, and patients with a history of certain heart diseases or angioedema should not take this medication. Patients with low sodium or fluid levels are at risk of hypotension, so their condition should be carefully checked before use, and blood pressure and condition should be closely monitored during treatment. Patients with high potassium levels or those taking potassium supplements should have their serum potassium levels frequently checked and use caution. Patients with renal issues or those who have received kidney transplants, patients with a history of angioedema, patients recovering from heart failure or a heart attack, and patients with acute myocardial infarction should take this medication with special care. Dizziness, drowsiness, headache, swelling, hypotension, skin rash, and gastrointestinal disturbances may occur during treatment, and if symptoms are severe, consultation with a physician is necessary. Dizziness or fatigue may occur during driving or operating machinery, so caution is needed. This medication may interact with other antihypertensive drugs, potassium-sparing diuretics, certain antibiotics, and anti-inflammatory drugs, so it is essential to disclose any co-administered medications. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should not use this medication, and it is also advisable for breastfeeding women to avoid this medication. Safety and efficacy in children under 18 years of age have not been sufficiently established, so its use is not recommended. In case of overdose, hypotension, dizziness, or in severe cases, shock may occur, so the dosage should not be exceeded, and if unusual symptoms arise, medical attention should be sought immediately.
