This medication is used in patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not sufficiently controlled with monotherapy of Amlodipine or Valsartan.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dose of this medication is 1 tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is advisable to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). Adjustment of doses with the individual components (Amlodipine or Valsartan) is recommended if blood pressure is not adequately controlled, with each component administered at 5/80mg, 5/160mg, or 10/160mg dosages. Patients with renal impairment may not require dose adjustments in mild to moderate cases.

Child dose

Safety and efficacy for pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established, and administration is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication may cause serious harm or death to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, therefore it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. It should not be used in patients with allergies to the active ingredient or similar class of medications, in pregnant or breastfeeding women, patients with severe kidney or liver disease, and patients with certain heart diseases. Patients with insufficient sodium or fluid in the body, high blood potassium levels, issues with renal blood vessels, patients who have recently received a kidney transplant, patients with a history of vascular edema, and patients after heart failure or myocardial infarction should be particularly cautious with this medication and require close monitoring by a physician. While taking this medication, side effects such as headache, dizziness, swelling, lowered blood pressure, dyspepsia, and skin rashes may occur. If any abnormal symptoms arise, immediate consultation with healthcare personnel is necessary. Beware that dizziness and fatigue may occur during driving or operating machinery, and if blood pressure falls sharply, it may be necessary to lay the patient down and administer fluids as needed as an emergency measure. This medication may interact with other antihypertensive medications, potassium supplements, certain diuretics, and some anti-inflammatory drugs; therefore, it is essential to inform your doctor or pharmacist if taking other medications. Pregnant women or those planning to become pregnant should not use this medication, and its use is not recommended for breastfeeding women. Safety and efficacy in children have not been adequately established, so it is preferable not to use it in this population. For the elderly, standard doses similar to adults are recommended, but administration should be done with caution considering individual conditions. In case of overdose, severe hypotension, dizziness, tachycardia, etc., may occur, hence it is crucial to adhere to the prescribed dosage and visit a medical institution immediately if any abnormal symptoms arise.
