This medication is used to control blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension for whom blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy of amlodipine or valsartan.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dose for adults is 1 tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is advisable to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). 5/80 milligrams: administered to patients for whom blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy of amlodipine 5 milligrams or valsartan 80 milligrams. 5/160 milligrams: administered to patients for whom blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy of amlodipine 5 milligrams or valsartan 160 milligrams.

Child dose

Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established, so administration of this medication is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients allergic to the ingredients of this medication, pregnant or nursing women, patients with severe kidney or liver disease, or those with specific heart conditions should not take it. Caution is needed when prescribing to patients with sodium or fluid deficiency as hypotension may occur upon initial dosing, and patients with hyperkalemia or impaired kidney function should frequently monitor potassium levels. If symptoms of angioedema occur, the medication should be discontinued immediately, and patients with heart failure or those who have had a myocardial infarction should closely monitor kidney function and symptoms. Caution is necessary when driving or operating machinery as dizziness or fatigue may occur. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should not use this medication, and it is also not recommended for nursing mothers. Safety and effectiveness have not been established in children under 18 years of age, so it is not recommended for this population. In cases of overdose, severe hypotension or heart problems may occur, so it is essential to adhere strictly to the prescribed dosage and seek medical attention if any abnormal symptoms arise.
