This medication can be effectively used to manage essential hypertension when blood pressure is not adequately controlled with amlodipine or valsartan alone.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dosage for this medication is one tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is advised to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). The dose may be adjusted to 5/80 mg, 5/160 mg, or 10/160 mg based on the patient's hypertensive management needs who are not adequately controlled on monotherapy with amlodipine or valsartan. In patients with renal impairment, no dose adjustment is needed in cases of mild to moderate impairment, however, in severe renal impairment.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters; therefore, if pregnancy is confirmed, it should be discontinued immediately. This medication should not be used by individuals with hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or similar compounds, by pregnant or breastfeeding women, or by patients with severe renal or liver dysfunction. For patients with sodium or fluid depletion, hypotension may occur, so it is important to thoroughly check the condition before taking this medication and to closely monitor blood pressure and condition during administration. Patients with hyperkalemia or those taking drugs that may increase potassium levels should have their potassium levels monitored regularly. Caution is advised when using this medication in patients with renal artery stenosis or who have received a kidney transplant, as it may affect renal function. If angioedema (swelling of the airway or face, lips, tongue) occurs, discontinue taking this medication immediately and do not take it again. Blood pressure and renal function should be closely monitored in patients with heart failure or after a myocardial infarction. This medication may rarely cause various side effects such as headache, dizziness, swelling, hypotension, cough, digestive disturbances, skin rashes, etc., so if any abnormal symptoms occur, consult a doctor or pharmacist. Caution is advised as dizziness or fatigue may occur during driving or operation of machinery. This medication may interact with other antihypertensive medications or certain drugs, so if currently taking other medications, it is essential to inform the healthcare provider and use it cautiously. Women who are planning to become pregnant or may be pregnant should not use this medication, and breastfeeding women should also avoid it. The safety and efficacy of this medication in children under 18 have not been adequately established, so its use is not recommended. In elderly patients, it can be administered in doses similar to those for adults, but careful observation of their condition is important. In case of overdose, hypotension and heart-related issues may arise; seek immediate medical attention for appropriate treatment.

Hives, severe swelling (edema), angioedema, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe rash with high fever, blisters, peeling of the skin, pain in oral/ocular mucosa, difficulty breathing or shortness of breath, asthma attack, respiratory distress accompanied by cough and fever, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), extreme lethargy, sudden and severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, confusion, visual disturbances.
