Improvement in blood pressure control for essential hypertension through combination of amlodipine and valsartan
For patients with essential hypertension, this medication can be used when blood pressure is not adequately controlled with amlodipine or valsartan monotherapy. This medication helps effectively lower and manage blood pressure by combining the two drugs. This can reduce the risk of cardiovascular complications and improve overall blood pressure management. If taken safely, favorable results can be obtained in blood pressure control. This medication is used to manage blood pressure consistently.
The recommended dosage of this medication is one tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). It is advisable to adjust the dosage with individual components (amlodipine or valsartan), and if blood pressure is not controlled with monotherapy, the respective dosages (5/80 mg, 5/160 mg, 10/160 mg) should be administered. For patients with renal impairment, dosage adjustment is not necessary for mild to moderate impairment.
Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients under 18 years have not been established, and use is not recommended.
This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, particularly in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. This medication should not be used in individuals allergic to its components, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, patients with severe kidney or liver disease, patients with certain heart conditions or in shock. In patients who are low in sodium or body fluids, hypotension may occur, so it is important to check their status before taking and to monitor carefully during treatment. Patients with high potassium levels should have their potassium levels checked frequently when taking this medication alongside potassium-increasing medications, and patients with kidney issues or those undergoing kidney transplants should use this medication cautiously. If symptoms of angioedema, particularly swelling of the face and neck, occur during treatment with this medication, it should be discontinued immediately and medical advice sought. Patients with heart failure or those who have had a myocardial infarction should periodically check kidney function and blood pressure changes while taking this medication, and patients with angina or heart valve disease should also exercise caution. This medication may interact with other blood pressure medications, particularly certain diuretics, potassium-sparing agents, NSAIDs, as well as some antibiotics or heart medications, so it is important to consult with healthcare professionals when taking these. Dizziness or fatigue may occur while driving or operating machinery, so caution is needed. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should avoid taking this medication, and it is also advisable for breastfeeding women to avoid it. This medication is not recommended for patients under 18 years old as safety and efficacy have not been adequately established.
