Efficacy & effects

Improvement of blood pressure control in essential hypertension

  • Essential hypertension
View approved original text

In patients with essential hypertension, when blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy of amlodipine or valsartan, combining these two medications can lower blood pressure more effectively. Amlodipine dilates blood vessels to lower blood pressure, while valsartan blocks the action of hormones involved in raising blood pressure. This combination therapy helps improve blood pressure control and reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, a combination of amlodipine and valsartan is used in the treatment of essential hypertension.
