For patients with essential hypertension, when blood pressure is not adequately controlled with either amlodipine or valsartan monotherapy, this medicine helps to lower blood pressure more effectively by using both drugs together. Such combination therapy helps manage blood pressure stably, thereby reducing the risk of cardiovascular complications and contributing to maintaining a healthy life. This medication improves hypertension control and contributes to enhancing the quality of life for patients.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dosage for this drug is one tablet once daily, to be taken with water, regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). 5/80 milligrams: For patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with amlodipine 5 milligrams or valsartan 80 milligrams monotherapy. 5/160 milligrams: For patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with amlodipine 5 milligrams or valsartan 160 milligrams monotherapy.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy of this drug have not been established for pediatric patients under 18 years of age, so it is not recommended for use in children.

Precautions

This drug can cause serious harm to the fetus during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. This drug should not be taken by individuals who are allergic to the active ingredient, pregnant or nursing women, and patients with severe kidney or liver problems. Patients with a deficiency of sodium or body fluids may experience hypotension, so their condition should be carefully checked before using this drug, and blood pressure and condition should be closely monitored during treatment. Patients with elevated potassium levels or those taking medications that may increase potassium levels should have their potassium levels checked regularly. Patients with renal vascular problems or those who have recently undergone a kidney transplant should use this drug cautiously due to the risk of deteriorating kidney function. Should any symptoms of angioedema (swelling of the face, lips, tongue, etc.) occur while taking this medication, it should be discontinued immediately and medical advice sought. Patients with heart failure or after a myocardial infarction should periodically monitor changes in kidney function and blood pressure while on this drug and be cautious of side effects such as pulmonary edema. Patients with acute myocardial infarction or certain heart diseases such as aortic stenosis also require special caution when using this drug. This drug may interact with other antihypertensive agents, potassium-sparing diuretics, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), so it is important to inform healthcare providers of all medications being taken. Caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery as dizziness or fatigue may occur. In case of overdose, hypotension, dizziness, and in severe cases, shock may occur, so an immediate visit to a healthcare facility is necessary. The safety and efficacy of this drug has not been established for patients under 18 years of age, hence it is not recommended for children. For the elderly, the same dosage can be administered as for adult patients. Pregnant or nursing women should avoid taking this medicine and should discontinue immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy.
