This medication helps more effectively manage blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension where blood pressure control is difficult with either amlodipine or valsartan monotherapy. It allows for stable blood pressure control and reduces the risk of complications.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dose of this medication is one tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is advised to take it at the same time daily (e.g., in the morning) if possible. 5/80 mg: Administered to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by amlodipine 5 mg or valsartan 80 mg monotherapy. 5/160 mg: Administered to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by amlodipine 5 mg or valsartan 160 mg monotherapy.

Child dose

Safety and efficacy have not been established for pediatric patients under 18 years; therefore, use of this medication is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication may cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during the second or third trimester of pregnancy; hence it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with allergies to this medication, females who are pregnant or breastfeeding, patients with severe kidney or liver disease, or those with specific heart conditions should not take this medication. Patients who are depleted of sodium or fluids may experience hypotension, so their status should be confirmed before taking, and blood pressure and condition should be closely monitored during treatment. Patients with high potassium levels should frequently check their potassium levels when taking this medication alongside potassium-increasing drugs, and caution is also necessary for patients with impaired kidney function. If symptoms of angioedema, such as swelling of the face, lips, or tongue, occur during the usage of this medication, it should be discontinued immediately, and medical attention should be sought. Patients with heart failure or after myocardial infarction should regularly check kidney function and blood pressure while taking this medication, and acute myocardial infarction patients should also take caution. There may be an increased risk of hypotension, hyperkalemia, and worsening of kidney function when this medication is used in conjunction with other antihypertensive drugs, so consultation with a doctor is recommended. Dizziness or fatigue may occur while driving or operating machinery, so caution is advised. In case of overdose, severe hypotension or heart abnormalities may occur, requiring immediate emergency treatment. This medication is not recommended for use in children under 18 years of age, as its safety and efficacy have not been sufficiently established. Elderly patients can be administered the same doses as adults, but their condition should be monitored. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised not to use this medication, and those planning to get pregnant should consult a doctor.

Hives, severe swelling (edema), angioedema, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe rash with fever, blisters, skin peeling, oral/ocular mucosal pain, shortness of breath or respiratory difficulties, asthma attacks, respiratory distress accompanied by cough and fever, jaundice, extreme fatigue throughout the body, sudden and severe headache, lightning headache, seizures, confusion of consciousness, visual disturbances.
