How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dose for adults is 1 tablet once a day, taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). For patients with mild to moderate kidney impairment (creatinine clearance above 10 mL/min), dosage adjustment is not necessary. In cases of liver impairment, the daily dose of valsartan should not exceed 80 mg.

Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established, and use of this medication is therefore not recommended.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially during the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. It should not be used in patients who are allergic to any of the ingredients in this medication or to similar classes of drugs, in pregnant or breastfeeding women, or in patients with severe kidney or liver disease. Patients with low sodium or fluid volume may experience hypotension; therefore, their condition should be thoroughly evaluated before use, and careful monitoring by a physician is necessary. Patients with high potassium levels or those taking other medications that can increase potassium levels should have their potassium levels checked frequently. Patients with issues in kidney blood vessels or those who have recently received a kidney transplant require careful monitoring of kidney function when using this medication. If symptoms of angioedema occur, such as swelling of the face, lips, tongue, etc., the medication should be discontinued immediately and medical advice sought. Patients with heart failure or after a myocardial infarction should closely observe kidney function and blood pressure while taking this medication, with particular caution in cases of significantly weakened heart function. Caution should be exercised as dizziness or fatigue may occur when driving or operating machinery. This medication may interact with other antihypertensives, potassium supplements, certain anti-inflammatory drugs, etc., so patients must inform their healthcare provider of any other medications being taken. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should avoid using this medication, and breastfeeding women are also advised to refrain from use. Safety and efficacy have not been established in patients under the age of 18, so it is not recommended for use in this population. In cases of overdose, hypotension, increased heart rate, and in severe cases, shock may occur, so strict adherence to the prescribed dose is necessary, and any unusual symptoms should be reported to a healthcare provider immediately.
