This medication is used as additional treatment for patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy with amlodipine or valsartan alone. It helps effectively lower blood pressure to assist in hypertension management.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dosage for this medication is one tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (for example, in the morning). For patients with mild to moderate renal impairment, dose adjustment is not required; however, it should not be administered to patients with severe renal impairment or those on dialysis. Patients with liver impairment should not exceed a daily dose of 80 mg of valsartan in mild to moderate cases.

Child dose

Precautions

This medication may cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Patients with hypersensitivity to this medication, pregnant or breastfeeding women, patients with severe kidney or liver disease, and those with certain heart conditions should not take this medication. Patients with sodium or fluid depletion should correct their condition before taking this medication and receive appropriate treatment if hypotension occurs, and caution is needed for patients with hyperkalemia. Patients with impaired renal function, kidney transplant recipients, and those with a history of angioedema should be monitored closely while taking this medication. Patients with heart failure or those who have had a myocardial infarction should closely monitor kidney function while on this medication, and patients with acute myocardial infarction also require caution. Since this medication lowers blood pressure, caution should be taken as dizziness or fatigue may occur during driving or machinery operation. Furthermore, this medication may interact with other antihypertensive medications, potassium-sparing drugs, and certain anti-inflammatory medications, so it is essential to consult with a physician or pharmacist about concomitant medications. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised not to take this medication, and it is not recommended for children under the age of 18 as safety and efficacy have not been sufficiently established. In case of overdose, symptoms such as dizziness, hypotension, and increased heart rate may occur, requiring immediate treatment at a medical facility. It is important to regularly check blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolyte levels during treatment with this medication to monitor for any abnormal signs.

Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, angioedema, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, jaundice, hepatitis, severe skin adverse reactions, renal failure, kidney damage, generalized malaise, sudden and very severe headache, lightning headache, seizures, consciousness confusion, visual disturbances, paralysis, significantly reduced urine output, severe generalized edema with associated blood pressure elevation.
