This medication is used for the treatment of essential hypertension. If blood pressure control is not sufficient with either amlodipine or valsartan monotherapy, this medicine is used to control blood pressure more effectively. This medication is used to improve blood pressure control for patients with essential hypertension to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during the 2nd and 3rd trimesters of pregnancy; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Individuals with allergies to the active components of this medication or similar drugs, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and those with severe renal or hepatic dysfunction should not take this medication. Additionally, patients with significantly impaired renal function among diabetes patients, those with a history of angioedema, individuals with severe aortic stenosis, and patients in shock should not take this medication. Patients who are dehydrated or have low sodium levels may experience low blood pressure, so their condition should be closely monitored before taking the medication, and if symptoms of low blood pressure occur during treatment, they should lie down and receive intravenous fluids if necessary. Patients with high potassium levels need to be cautious when using this medication along with potassium-increasing agents, as potassium concentration may rise to dangerous levels, requiring close monitoring through frequent blood tests. Patients with renal vascular problems or those who have recently undergone kidney transplants should use this medication with caution, as it may worsen their renal function. If angioedema occurs during the use of this medication, it should be discontinued immediately and should not be re-administered. Patients with heart failure or those recovering from myocardial infarction may experience changes in renal function or low blood pressure while taking this medication; thus, regular monitoring of renal function is necessary. This medication may interact with other antihypertensive agents, particularly potassium-sparing diuretics, NSAIDs, or specific antibiotics, so caution is advised when taken together. Caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery, as dizziness or fatigue may occasionally occur. In case of overdose, severe hypotension or tachycardia may arise, necessitating immediate medical treatment. This medication is not recommended for children under 18 years of age due to insufficient evidence of safety and efficacy. Elders can be administered a similar dose as general adults, but their condition should be closely observed. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid using this medication, and those planning to become pregnant should also refrain from taking it.
