Improvement of blood pressure control in essential hypertension
This medication helps manage blood pressure more effectively when blood pressure is not sufficiently controlled with either amlodipine or valsartan alone in patients with essential hypertension. It contributes to stabilizing blood pressure, thereby reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases. This medication is used to improve blood pressure through a combined action.
The recommended dosage of this medication is one tablet once a day, taken with water regardless of meals. It is advised to take it preferably at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). Dosages available are 5/80 mg, 5/160 mg, and 10/160 mg, and if blood pressure remains uncontrolled, a switch from individual component therapy to this medication can be considered. For patients with renal impairment, dosage adjustment is not necessary for mild to moderate cases.
The safety and efficacy of this medication in pediatric patients under 18 years have not been established, thus its use is not recommended.
This medication may cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during pregnancy in the second or third trimester; therefore, if pregnancy is confirmed, it should be discontinued immediately. This medication should not be administered to individuals allergic to the active ingredients or similar drug classes, pregnant or potentially pregnant women, and breastfeeding women. It should also be avoided in patients with severely impaired kidney or liver function, certain heart diseases, or a history of angioedema. Patients with a deficiency of sodium or fluids in their body may experience low blood pressure, so conditions should be managed prior to administration, and blood pressure should be monitored closely during treatment. Patients with high potassium levels should be cautious when taking this medication with drugs that can increase potassium, and blood potassium levels should be checked regularly. Patients with problems in renal vasculature or those who have undergone kidney transplants may experience worsening kidney function when taking this medication, requiring careful monitoring. If symptoms of angioedema appear during treatment, the medication should be stopped immediately, and it should not be re-administered. Patients with heart failure or post-myocardial infarction should have regular kidney function tests during treatment and be aware of the potential for adverse effects, such as pulmonary edema. Patients with acute myocardial infarction or certain heart valve diseases should also exercise caution while taking this medication. It is recommended not to take this medication in combination with other renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system drugs, and dosage should be adjusted in patients with liver impairment. Caution is needed when driving or operating machinery as dizziness or fatigue may occur. Overdosage may lead to low blood pressure or cardiac-related adverse effects, thus strict adherence to the dosages is essential, and any abnormal symptoms should be reported to healthcare professionals immediately. This medication has not been sufficiently validated for safety and efficacy in children and is not recommended for them. Elderly patients may be given the same dosage as adults, but consultation with healthcare providers is advised depending on individual conditions. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function, electrolyte levels, etc., during treatment is crucial.
