This medication primarily helps to lower the risk of cardiovascular diseases. For example, it reduces the risk of myocardial infarction and stroke in adults with multiple risk factors for coronary heart disease and in patients with type 2 diabetes. Additionally, it is effective in reducing the risk of hospitalization due to myocardial infarction, stroke, angina pectoris, and congestive heart failure in patients already suffering from coronary heart disease. It is also used in the treatment of hyperlipidemia, improving cholesterol and triglyceride levels in various types of hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia that are difficult to control through dietary modification alone. In pediatric patients, it safely helps to reduce total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol levels in cases of heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. Overall, this drug improves cardiovascular health and is effectively used in the treatment of dyslipidemia.
