Adult dose
This medication is administered once daily at a dose of 0.5 mg either as monotherapy or in combination therapy. It can be taken regardless of meals.
Precautions
This medication may worsen heart failure in patients with impaired heart function, so it should be taken cautiously under medical supervision. After starting treatment, be vigilant for symptoms of heart failure such as rapid weight gain or shortness of breath. If such symptoms occur, heart function tests should be conducted, and medication may need to be discontinued if necessary. Patients with severe heart failure or severely impaired liver or kidney function, or certain diabetes patients should not take this medication. Additionally, patients with hereditary issues such as lactose intolerance should avoid this medication. When taken with other blood glucose-lowering agents, be cautious as edema or fluid retention may occur. During treatment, symptoms such as edema, weight gain, dizziness, dyspepsia, or cold symptoms may occur, and if any abnormal symptoms appear, consult a physician. Regular blood tests and liver function tests are important to monitor liver health. Premenopausal women should use appropriate contraception as this medication may induce ovulation, increasing the risk of pregnancy. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid taking this medication. Safety and effectiveness in children have not been established, so this medication is not used in pediatric patients. Elderly patients should be monitored closely as liver and kidney function may decline. There is no specific antidote in case of overdose, so appropriate treatment should be administered based on symptoms, and the drug is not removed by dialysis. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and not transferred to other containers.
