This medication is used for the treatment of myocardial ischemia caused by hypertension and stable or unstable angina. It also helps reduce the risk of hospitalization due to angina and the risk of coronary vascular intervention in patients recently diagnosed with coronary artery disease through angiography who do not have heart failure or have a cardiac output of more than 40%. Therefore, it is effective for alleviating the symptoms of cardiovascular disease and preventing related complications.

Precautions

This medication should not be administered to certain patients. For example, individuals allergic to this drug or similar drugs, nursing women, those with severe liver dysfunction, patients with severe aortic stenosis, and individuals in shock should not use this medication. Additionally, patients with severe hypotension, those requiring dialysis due to kidney failure, elderly patients, and pregnant or potentially pregnant women should exercise special caution when using this medication. This drug primarily works to lower blood pressure and dilate blood vessels, and may cause symptoms such as flushing, fatigue, swelling, palpitations, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, abdominal pain, and nausea during use. Rarely, side effects such as excessively low blood pressure, vasculitis, neurological symptoms, indigestion, skin rash, hair loss, cough, and dyspnea may occur, so if any abnormal symptoms appear, consult a physician immediately. Patients with heart failure or liver dysfunction may experience more severe effects and side effects from this medication, so it should be used cautiously under a doctor's guidance. Abruptly stopping this medication can cause sudden changes in blood pressure, therefore, when changing or combining it with other antihypertensive medications, one must strictly follow medical guidance. This drug is known not to have a major impact on driving or operating machinery; however, caution should be taken if dizziness or drowsiness occurs. Interactions may occur when taken with other medications, so especially when taking specific antibiotics, antihypertensive medications, anticoagulants, or medications affecting liver function, it is important to consult with a doctor or pharmacist. It is advisable to avoid consumption with grapefruit or grapefruit juice, as the effect of this medication may be excessively increased. For pregnant or nursing women, the safety of this medication has not been established, so it should only be used when necessary under a doctor's judgment, and it is recommended to discontinue breastfeeding while using it. It can only be used in children aged 6 years and older; safety and efficacy have not been confirmed in younger ages. In case of overdose, blood pressure may drop excessively and heart rate may increase, potentially leading to shock. In such instances, immediate hospital care and appropriate treatment are required. This medication is not removed by kidney dialysis, hence specific treatment is needed in case of overdose. It is important to consult a healthcare professional immediately if any unusual symptoms or discomfort arise during the use of this medication.
