Precautions

This medication belongs to the aminoglycoside class of antibiotics and should not be used in individuals who are allergic to certain antibiotics. During use, symptoms such as itching or swelling of the eyelids, redness of the eyes, inflammation, and temporary burning may occur; if these symptoms arise, use should be immediately discontinued. Some patients may experience irritation or pain. When using this medication, it is important to confirm the sensitivity of the infectious bacteria to prevent the emergence of resistant strains, and it should be used only for the necessary minimum duration. Adequate medical history and skin reaction tests are recommended before use to reduce the risk of allergic reactions or shock. Prolonged or repeated use may lead to overgrowth of resistant bacteria, so if abnormal symptoms occur, discontinue use immediately and seek appropriate treatment. The ingredients of this medication should not be used with certain antibiotics, so caution is necessary. When used alongside other aminoglycoside medications, the blood levels should be carefully monitored. During treatment, it is advisable to avoid wearing contact lenses to prevent the spread of infection. Vision may temporarily blur after administration, so driving or operating machinery should be avoided until vision returns to normal. Using this medication with anticoagulants may increase the risk of bleeding; periodic blood tests should be conducted to check the condition and adjust the anticoagulant dose if necessary. Use during pregnancy should only occur when specifically needed, and for breastfeeding individuals, it is recommended to refrain from breastfeeding or consult with a doctor before use as it may affect the baby. Excessive use may cause symptoms such as inflammation or swelling of the eyes, increased tearing, and may require management of blood levels such as dialysis if necessary. This medication should not be injected directly into the eye. In Korea, some bacteria show resistance to this medication, so it is important to check the type and resistance of the infectious bacteria.
