This medication helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. In particular, it decreases the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and angina in adults with cardiovascular disease risk factors or those with type 2 diabetes. It is also effective in reducing the risk of hospitalization due to myocardial infarction, stroke, or congestive heart failure in patients who already have coronary artery disease. In patients with dyslipidemia, it lowers total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels while raising HDL cholesterol levels, thereby improving blood lipid profiles. Particularly, it is used for treating pediatric patients with familial hypercholesterolemia conforming to specific criteria. Therefore, this medication is used effectively to improve cardiovascular diseases and dyslipidemia.
