This medication helps reduce the risks of cardiovascular diseases. It is especially effective in reducing the risk of myocardial infarction and stroke in adults with multiple risk factors and patients with type 2 diabetes, as well as reducing the risks of vascular interventions and angina. Additionally, it is effective in lowering the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and hospitalization due to congestive heart failure in patients who already have coronary heart disease, and alleviating the symptoms of angina. It is also used in the treatment of hyperlipidemia, decreasing levels of LDL cholesterol, total cholesterol, and triglycerides, and increasing HDL cholesterol even when dietary measures are ineffective. For pediatric patients aged 10 to 17 years with familial hypercholesterolemia, it aids in improving blood lipid levels as an adjunct to dietary therapy. This medication is effectively used for reducing cardiovascular disease risks and improving blood lipid levels.
