This medication helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. In particular, it decreases the risks of myocardial infarction and stroke, as well as lowers the risk of revascularization and angina. It is also effective in preventing cardiovascular complications in diabetic patients. Additionally, it is used to reduce cholesterol and triglyceride levels and increase HDL cholesterol levels in the treatment of hyperlipidemia. It is used for pediatric patients with certain familial hypercholesterolemia aged 10 to 17 years. This medication is used to improve cardiovascular health and manage blood lipid levels.

How to take

Adult dose

Atorvastatin is administered once daily at any time of day, regardless of meals. Precautions

This medication should be discontinued immediately if unusual symptoms appear in the muscles. If muscle pain or weakness is severe or if creatine kinase levels significantly increase, treatment should be stopped and a doctor should be consulted. This medication should not be used in individuals with certain diseases or pregnant women, as well as in children under 10 years of age. In particular, patients with liver diseases, muscle disorders, or those taking certain antiviral medications should avoid this medication. Patients with a history of alcohol abuse, poor liver function, elderly patients, and patients with impaired kidney function should use this medication with caution and require monitoring for muscle-related symptoms. While on this medication, regular liver function tests and muscle-related tests should be conducted, and any unusual symptoms should be reported to a doctor immediately. This medication may interact with various other drugs, so if you are taking other medications, you must inform your doctor or pharmacist. Care is especially needed when taken with certain antibiotics, antifungals, antiviral medications, some antihypertensives, oral contraceptives, grapefruit juice, etc. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant must ensure proper contraception while taking this medication, and should discontinue use immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Women who are breastfeeding should also avoid this medication.
