Relief of diabetic polyneuropathy
This medicine helps alleviate symptoms of polyneuropathy caused by diabetes. It reduces pain or sensory disturbances due to nerve damage, thereby improving the quality of life for patients. This helps reduce discomfort experienced in daily life and supports recovery of nerve function. It is used for the improvement of symptoms of diabetic neuropathy.
Adults: Take 600 milligrams of thioctic acid once daily with plenty of water, approximately 30 minutes before breakfast.
This medication contains alpha-lipoic acid; individuals allergic to this ingredient or other excipients should not use it. Additionally, there is no clinical experience with this drug in children and adolescents, so it should not be administered to patients in this age group. After taking, gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, or diarrhea may rarely occur. Allergic reactions such as skin rashes, hives, or itching may also occur infrequently, so caution is necessary. There may rarely be a decrease in blood sugar levels, leading to hypoglycemic symptoms such as dizziness, sweating, headaches, and visual disturbances. Abnormal taste has also been reported, so please consider this as well. During the use of this drug, it is advisable to avoid alcohol consumption. Alcohol can exacerbate nerve damage and diminish the effectiveness of the medication. Especially in patients with diabetic neuropathy, alcohol should be avoided not just during treatment but also during drug holidays. This drug may inhibit absorption if taken with formulations containing specific metallic components or milk, as they may combine inside the body. If this drug is taken 30 minutes before breakfast, it is advisable to take iron or magnesium formulations separately at lunch or dinner. Additionally, when taking this drug with insulin or other oral diabetes medications, the blood sugar-lowering effect may increase, so blood sugar levels should be frequently monitored during the initial treatment phase. If necessary, the dosage of insulin or diabetes medications may be adjusted. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should use this drug only after carefully considering its benefits and risks, based on a physician's judgment. There is no clear information regarding the effects of this drug on the fetus, nor is it known whether it is secreted in breast milk. In cases of overdose, serious toxicity symptoms may occur, so caution is warranted. Initially, anxiety or consciousness disturbances may arise, and in severe cases, generalized seizures, acidosis, hypoglycemia, shock, muscle damage, blood coagulation abnormalities, myelosuppression, and multiple organ failure may manifest. If overdose is suspected, seek medical assistance immediately for appropriate treatment, such as inducing vomiting, gastric lavage, or administering activated charcoal. This medication should be stored at temperatures not exceeding 30 degrees Celsius and kept in a secure place out of reach of children. Additionally, transferring to another container is not advisable as it may compromise quality.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication may be sensitive to air and moisture, so it should be stored in a sealed container. The recommended storage temperature is between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius at room temperature. Proper storage will help maintain the medication's effectiveness for a longer time.
