Relief of diabetic polyneuritis
This medication helps relieve symptoms caused by diabetic polyneuropathy. It reduces pain and sensory disturbances resulting from nerve damage, thereby improving the patient's quality of life. Continuous use can aid in the recovery of nerve function and is effective in alleviating symptoms. This drug effectively controls neuropathy, a complication of diabetes.
Adults: Take 600 milligrams of thioctic acid once daily with plenty of water, approximately 30 minutes before breakfast.
This medication contains the ingredient alpha-lipoic acid, and those allergic to this ingredient or other excipients should not take it. There is insufficient clinical experience regarding safety and efficacy in children and adolescents, so it is advisable not to use this medication in individuals under 18. During use, gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea may occasionally occur. Additionally, allergic reactions such as skin rash, hives, and itching may rarely occur, so caution is advised. This medication may lower blood sugar levels, which can lead to symptoms of hypoglycemia such as dizziness, sweating, headache, and visual disturbances, so blood sugar management is essential. Occasionally, taste disturbances may occur, and if any unusual symptoms arise, consult a physician. If alcohol is frequently consumed, there is a risk of exacerbating nerve damage, so it is advisable to avoid alcohol intake during treatment and during any drug-free intervals. This medication may diminish the efficacy of the anticancer drug cisplatin, so it is advisable not to use them simultaneously. Taking this medication with iron, magnesium, or other metal-containing drugs or milk may impair its absorption, so it is recommended to take this medication 30 minutes before meals and take iron supplements separately during meals. When taken with insulin or other anti-diabetic medications, blood sugar may drop too low, so blood sugar should be monitored frequently, and medication doses adjusted as necessary. If pregnant or breastfeeding, safety has not been fully established; therefore, it must be taken cautiously after consulting with a physician. Severe toxicity symptoms may occur in case of overdose, so it is crucial to adhere to the prescribed dosage and visit a hospital immediately if overdose is suspected. This medication should not be stored at temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius and should be kept in a safe place out of the reach of children and not transferred to another container.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to protect it from air and moisture, ideally at room temperature between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius. Storing it this way helps maintain the effectiveness of the medication for a longer period.
