This medicine is used for the treatment of osteoporosis, which mainly occurs in postmenopausal women. The decrease in female hormones due to menopause reduces bone density, increasing the risk of fractures. This medication helps maintain bone health and increases bone density, thus preventing fractures. Therefore, it is used to effectively manage postmenopausal osteoporosis and keep bones strong.

How to take

Adult dose

Take 1 tablet regularly once a month on the same day each month in the morning. It should be taken with a sufficient amount of water at least 1 hour before consuming food, beverages (excluding water), or other oral medications or dietary supplements (including calcium). It should be swallowed with a sufficient volume (180-240 mL) of water while in an upright position or while sitting straight, and lying down for 60 minutes afterwards is prohibited. Natural spring water may decrease absorption.

Precautions

This medicine should not be used in patients who are allergic to this medicine or any other components of this medicine. Patients with low calcium levels should normalize calcium levels before taking this medication. After taking the medication, patients must remain upright for at least 60 minutes and should not lie down while taking it. Patients with slow or problematic esophageal movement should be cautious as this medication may irritate or damage the esophagus. This medication contains lactose, so patients with lactose intolerance or related genetic disorders should not take it. Patients with severely impaired kidney function, especially those with a creatinine clearance of less than 30 mL/min, should use this medicine carefully. Gastrointestinal disturbances may occur upon taking this medication; if symptoms such as heartburn, difficulty swallowing, or chest pain occur, immediately consult a doctor. This medication can irritate the gastrointestinal mucosa; therefore, patients with gastritis, esophagitis, ulcers, etc., should be especially cautious. Patients undergoing dental treatment or with poor oral health should have a dental check-up before using this medicine and receive preventive treatments if necessary. It is advisable to avoid excessive dental treatments or surgeries during the use of this medication, and to inform medical staff immediately if any symptoms of jawbone abnormalities occur. This medication can cause eye inflammation, so patients should inform their doctor immediately if any eye symptoms occur. Pain such as myalgia, arthralgia, or bone pain may occur, and if these symptoms are severe, consult a doctor. This medication may have reduced absorption if taken with calcium, milk, antacids, etc., so avoid taking other foods or medications for at least one hour after taking it. It is safer not to use this medicine during pregnancy or breastfeeding. The safety and efficacy of this medicine have not been established in children under 18 years of age, therefore it should not be used in this age group. Overdose may lead to gastrointestinal disturbances or hypocalcemia; therefore, strictly adhere to the dosage and inform medical staff immediately if any symptoms occur. This medication should be stored out of the reach of children, and unused medicine should be safely disposed of using designated methods to prevent environmental pollution.

Hives, severe swelling (edema), angioedema, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe rash with fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in mucous membranes of the mouth/eyes, severe skin adverse reactions, severe allergic reactions, difficulty or trouble breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory abnormalities accompanied by cough+fever, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), extreme lethargy, liver abnormalities (jaundice), sudden onset.
